Please read this End User License Agreement (“EULA”) carefully. MAPA licenses the use of the MAPA Digital Platform only on the condition that you accept and agree to all terms and conditions contained herein. If you do not agree to this EULA, you are not permitted to access or use the MAPA Digital Platform and must discontinue use immediately.

SMS/Text Messaging

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to the SMS/text messaging programs offered by the Michigan Academy of Physician Associates (“MAPA,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) through MAPA-operated websites, online properties, social media profiles, mobile applications, and other digital platforms or services (collectively, the “Site”).

Terms of Sale

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the purchase and sale of products, services, memberships, event registrations, and other offerings made available through the Michigan Academy of Physician Associates (“MAPA,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) via MAPA’s websites, digital platforms, event systems, and any other online tools or services (collectively, the “Site”). By purchasing through the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. MAPA may modify these Terms at any time, and the most recent version will be posted on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

1. Relation to Site Terms of Use

These Terms operate in conjunction with MAPA’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Before placing any order through the Site, you should review all applicable MAPA policies.

2. Order Acceptance and Cancellation

Your order constitutes an offer to purchase, under these Terms, the products or services listed in your order. MAPA must accept your order before a binding contract is formed. We may accept or decline any order at our sole discretion. Once we receive your order, we will send a confirmation email containing your order number and order details. Acceptance of your order occurs only upon MAPA’s approval. After acceptance, all orders are non-refundable.

3. Membership Purchases and MAPA Governance

By submitting payment for MAPA membership, you are applying to join under one of MAPA’s membership categories. If accepted, you agree to adhere to MAPA’s Bylaws, Code of Conduct, and all applicable policies. MAPA reserves the right to discipline, suspend, or revoke membership in accordance with those policies.

4. MAPA Membership Categories

MAPA currently offers the following membership types:

  • Fellow – Certified or licensed physician associates practicing in Michigan.
  • 1st-Year Fellow – Physician associates in their first year after graduation.
  • Student – Individuals enrolled in an accredited PA program.
  • Associate – PAs residing outside Michigan or otherwise ineligible for Fellow status.
  • Affiliate – Individuals who are not PAs (including pre-PA students) with a professional or academic interest in the PA profession.
  • Retired – PAs who have retired from professional practice.
  • Honorary – Members recognized for distinguished service; dues are waived.

Membership eligibility requirements and dues rates are set by the MAPA Board of Directors and may change at any time.

5. Prices and Payment Terms

All posted prices for membership, event registrations, products, or services are subject to change without notice. The price in effect when your order is submitted will be the price reflected in your confirmation email. Prices do not include applicable taxes or processing fees unless stated otherwise.

Payment must be received before MAPA accepts an order. MAPA accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. By submitting payment, you confirm that:

  • The payment information you provide is accurate and complete;
  • You are authorized to use the payment method provided;
  • The charges will be honored by your payment provider; and
  • You agree to pay all applicable charges, including taxes and fees.

6. Returns and Refunds

All accepted orders — including MAPA membership purchases — are non-returnable and non-refundable unless expressly stated otherwise by MAPA.

7. Membership Changes and Upgrades

Members may request to change or upgrade their membership category, subject to MAPA’s approval and applicable dues. If changing to a category with higher dues, the member will pay the applicable difference. Downgrades do not result in refunds of previously paid dues.

8. Event, Conference, and CME Registrations

Event, conference, and CME registrations are subject to MAPA’s event-specific terms, including fees, scheduling, content, and eligibility requirements. MAPA reserves the right to modify event formats, safety protocols, or program features at any time. Unless otherwise stated, registrations are non-transferable and non-refundable.

9. Auto-Renewal of Membership (If Selected)

Members who elect auto-renewal authorize MAPA to automatically charge their payment method for annual membership dues at the then-current rate. This authorization remains in effect until the member cancels auto-renewal or their membership. If a payment method is declined, the member must provide a new eligible payment method or membership may be canceled.

10. Tax Information

MAPA membership dues are not tax-deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. They may be deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses, subject to general IRS limitations, including restrictions related to MAPA’s lobbying activities. MAPA will annually disclose the portion of dues attributable to lobbying, if applicable.

11. Donations and Voluntary Contributions

Any voluntary contributions to the PAMPAC or MAPA-affiliated programs are subject to separate terms. Unless explicitly stated, such contributions are optional, non-refundable, and generally not tax-deductible as charitable donations.
