Professional Bio

Rebecca Cronin is a second-career PA, having started her professional journey as a scientist in research and development. She made the switch to medicine after realizing she wanted a more direct approach to patient care. While she continues to have a deep love for science and values evidence-based medicine in her everyday practice, she finds the greatest joy in making a human connection with her patients.

In addition to her clinical work, she is passionate about elevating PAs to practice at the top of their scope, with the goal of better serving patients and increasing access to care—especially in rural and underserved areas of Michigan. This passion led to her advocacy work and ultimately to becoming the youngest-ever President of the Michigan Academy of Physician Associates. Under her leadership, the 2024–25 Board of Directors initiated a governance restructure, creating the Chief PA Officer position and further elevating the PA profession.

When she’s not working or engaged in advocacy efforts, she enjoys hiking local trails with her dog, Willow, or spending time along Lake Michigan (weather permitting). She relaxes by reading, planning her next international adventure, and trying to keep her indoor plants thriving. If you see her at a MAPA event, don’t hesitate to say hello—she’d love to meet you.

Clinical Experience in dermatology, general surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, hand surgery, critical care, and emergency medicine.
