Professional Bio

Alison (she/her/hers) completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, and her Masters in Bomedical Science, (MSBS, PA) from the University of Toledo. She has worked in inpatient and ambulatory psychiatric care her entire PA career, currently in outpatient Geriatric Psychiatry at the Univerisity of Michigan Turner Geriatric Clinic.
Areas of special clinical interest include integrated medical and psychiatric care, and mental health needs of members of the LGBTQ+ community. As an author and educator, Alison has written about medical illnesses presenting as psychiatric disorders, teaching empathy to healthcare providers, and building resilience. She has given talks on mood disorders, anxiety disorders, geriatric psychiatric issues, dementia, diabetes and depression, LGBTQ+ mental health needs, and effective advocacy.
Alison serves on the MAPA Legislative Committee as an advocate for increased access to mental health care, and has testified in both legislative chambers on behalf of Michigan patients.
In her personal time, Alison enjoys swimming, gardening, reading historical fiction, and trying to keep houseplants alive. She spends as much time as possible with her family, friends, and beloved dog.
