Can a PA order restraints and/or seclusion? Can a PA perform an abortion? Can a PA perform x-rays, ultrasound and other imaging procedures? Can a PA pronounce death? Sign a Death Certificate? Can a PA treat conditions related to the eye? Can a salaried PA be compensated for overtime when working beyond their agreed-upon hours? In a hospital or other institution where physicians and PAs have different shifts or if a PA is working in multiple private practices, who would be the PA’s supervising physician? In the above answer you said “most specialties”. Are there some exceptions? Is there any general statement in law about a PA’s scope-of-practice? What if a PA is between jobs, semi-retired or retired, etc. and has no supervisor, how should a renewal forms be filled out? Can a PA perform Physical Therapy? Make patient referrals to physical therapy?
